FALL 2024 APPLICATION PROCESS
The Fall 2024 scholarship application process has begun! Please reach out to Adam Giardino at Adam [@] blackpxpfund.com to introduce yourself to be included in the next wave of scholarship applicants.
Fall 2024 Scholarship Timeline:
November 1 - December 1 | APPLICATIONS OPEN
November 29 | Reaching out to applicants to schedule interviews with each scholarship applicant
December 2 - December 20 | Multiple board members interviewed each applicant over Zoom for 30 minutes
December 23 | Notify all applicants whether they have/haven’t been chosen as a recipient
December 30 | Publicly announce the recipients of money from the scholarship on social media

Please include…
A cover letter of no more than 750 words explaining your background, how you’re qualified for the scholarship and what has brought you to be interested in pursuing a career in play-by-play
An official/unofficial transcript of your grades to verify that you are an active college student
A radio and/or TV play-by-play demo
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Include a link to your personal website, or upload the audio and video files for free to SoundCloud or YouTube and send those links.
**Please do not attach audio or video files to your e-mail**
The length of your play-by-play segment should be no more than 10 minutes.
If you’d like to submit multiple sports, please feel free to do so. If you do, indicate which sport you feel is your strongest.
Highlight reels of 2-3 minutes are also welcome, however the primary evaluation tool will be your play-by-play demo.
Any additional materials that make you a unique candidate for a scholarship
Each applicant will hear from the review board and schedule a time for an initial phone/video conference call. Additional conversations may be required to select scholarship recipients based on the number of applicants in any given year.

GRASSROOTS IMPACT
Before ever getting a job in play-by-play broadcasting, it is essential to develop a passion for the craft. The drive to push yourself to get better is imperative, but so is the encouragement and guidance of others. It is through this prism that The Black Play-by-Play Grant & Scholarship Fund wants to identify and support aspiring Black broadcasters while they are still in school.
Reinforcing the support of the industry through academic scholarships shows applicants that a career in play-by-play is possible — that the profession is not something unattainable only reserved for a certain set of other people.
Above, please find detailed instructions on how to apply for one of the three (3) $1,000 scholarships that will be granted for the Fall 2021 semester.
